MUDIE’S PROUD OF TEAM RESILIENCE

North Sunshine Senior Women’s assistant coach Jessica Mudie says she is proud of the resilience the group has shown in 2022.

The Roadrunners have faced several challenges throughout the Victoria University Polytechnic Senior Women’s Division 2 competition this season, including struggling with numbers.

“We are a resilient group,” Mudie said.

“We have struggled for number for most of the season, but we have managed to find new players and there is a good moral around the club. We have been able to build our team and also build on the plays in games.”

Mudie has been involved at North Sunshine since Women’s footy was first introduced at the club. She said the development of the team since the beginning has been prominent.

“The players that played in the second and third seasons, their development has been amazing,” Mudie said.

“There have been eight of us that have been playing from the start and to see some of these players become strong women’s players has been a massive credit. Some of these girls didn’t know how to kick a footy when they first played.”

North Sunshine had the bye last weekend. They used the weekend off to re-set as well as watch the top-of-the-table clash between the Sharks and Roosters.

Mudie said her tip for the flag this season would be Point Cook Centrals.

“The Sharks are looking very strong at the moment, they have put together a good season,” she said.

The Roadrunners will take on Caroline Springs at Taylors Run Oval on Saturday morning – another contender for the Division 2 premiership.

“Our goal for the reminder of the season is to keep building, keep up the moral and looking forward to next year,” Mudie said.

“We want to have fun and keep having those small wins.

“We play Laverton in the last game of the season, so we are looking forward to that match. We drew with them last time we played.”

North Sunshine will travel to Caroline Springs to play in Round 14 tomorrow. The game beings at 9.30am.
