NETBALL ROUND 7 MATCH REPORT

Division 1

Braybrook Whitten have defeated top of the ladder team PCCSC Bull Sharks in a tight match.

The game was anyone’s to win throughout but Braybrook proved too strong in the final quarter, outscoring PCCSC nine goals to six to win the game by two points.

Rebecca Hicks was the top goal scorer of the game, with 27 points for the Sharks. Akira Mccormack wasn’t far behind with 24 for Braybrook.

Lakers 1 have held onto their position in the top four with their 34 to 31 victory against Yarraville Seddon Eagles.

Yarraville fought hard for the win but the Lakers proved too strong, holding the lead at the end of every quarter.

Usual suspects Olivia Craske (Lakers) and Isobel Robertson (Yarraville) were the lead scorers for their respective teams with 25 and 19 goals.

Spotswood Gold defeated Manor Lakes Storm 1 in a big 44 to 35 victory.

Manor Lakes fought hard to stay in the game but Spotswood proved too strong for them at every turn.

Kimberly Philipps for Spotswood has a massive game, scoring 31 goals for her team, the most of anyone in Division 1 for Round 7.

Division 2

Spotswood Green have earned their second win of the season, taking out North Footscray Red in a 35 to 29 defeat.

Spotswood had the lead from the jump and despite North Footscrays hard efforts they managed to grow their lead at every quarter.

Alexandra Macdonald (North Footscray) and Dylan Bowman (Spotswood) were the games lead scorers with 17 and 26.

Lakers 2 have kept a clean sheet in Round 7 with a 32 to 22 victory over Albanvale Cobras.

Lakers came out hard in the first quarter to outscore Albanvale twelve goals to two and despite Albanvales best efforts this lead proved too strong, securing Lakers their 10-point win.

Lakers player Jamie Ritchie was the top scorer of the game with 28 goals.

PCCSC Hammerhead Sharks had a big 38 to 16 win over Manor Lakes Storm 2.

Despite a hard fight from Manor Lakes the Sharks proved to be the better team in Round 7, outscoring them at every turn.

Jessie Patterson and Melissa Mcvay from PCCSC were the lead goal scorers of the game both with 19 goals each.

Braybrook Hawkins have taken the second spot on the ladder from PCCSC Tiger Sharks in a big 32 to 25 win.

Braybrook came out strong in the first half, outscoring the Sharks sixteen goals to seven and despite a strong second half push from the Tiger Sharks, their lead proved too strong.

Tiarnah Lloyd was the lead scorer for the game, bagging 29 goals for Braybrook.

Division 3

Lakers 3 just scraped by with the win against Manor Lakes Storm 3 in a thrilling one-point victory.

Manor Lakes hit the lead in the third quarter but it was the Lakers who proved hungrier in the fourth, outscoring them nine goals to five.

Courtney Pretty (Lakers) and Dana Hanmer (Manor Lakes) were their teams top goal scorers with 16 and 12 goals respectively.

Braybrook remain undefeated after beating Spotswood Black 32 to 21 in a thrilling top of the table clash.

After shaky first half that saw Braybrook down by just three points, it was the Priests that showed up hungrier for the win in the second half outscoring Spotswood 21 goals to seven.

Christina Afoa was the games lead goal scorer with 23 points for Braybrook.

Albion Cats White took the victory against PCCSC Megalodon Sharks in a thrilling 27 to 22 victory.

Albion held the lead at every turn, dominating especially in the first half with sixteen goals to the Sharks seven.

Bianca Bonanzinga (Albion) and Janine Long (PCCSC) were their teams lead scorers with 20 and 18 goals respectively.

PCCSC Great White Sharks took out the Suns in a brilliant 26 to 22 win.

Aimee Jones for PCCSC was the games lead scorer, bagging 19 goals for her team.

Division 4

Glen Orden Blue claimed a massive 41 to 12 victory against Manor Lakes Storm 4.

Manor Lakes fought hard to stay in the game but Glen Orden once again proved too strong for their opponents, keeping their 2023 season sheet clean.

Zoe Piccolo was the games lead scorer with 21 goals for Glen Orden.

Lakers 4 claimed a big 41 to 11 win against Albion Cats Blue.

Albion were seeking to win their first game in Round 7, however Lakers proved too strong.

North Sunshine have kept themselves firmly planted in second place on the ladder after a 38 to 25 win against Sunshine Kangaroos.

Sunshine kept the fight up at each quarter, however North Sunshine proved too strong, outscoring the side at every quarter.

Allanah Coward (Sunshine) and Angel Nasallo (North Sunshine) were the lead scorers for their teams with 21 and 20 goals apiece.

Division 5

Laverton Black have kept their first place position on the ladder after defeating PCCSC Reef Sharks 30 to 18.

The Sharks were in the game at every quarter, however Laverton were too strong for them as they couldn’t manage to get the lead.

Makayla Lee for Laverton was the top scorer of the game with sixteen goals.

Glen Orden Brown have kept themselves in the top three, defeating North Footscray 32 to 22.

The game was anyone’s to win but Glen Orden stepped it up especially in the second half, outscoring North Footscray fourteen goals to eleven.

Mikaella Nelson (Glen Orden) and Alanna Bonney (North Footscray) were their teams top scorers with 20 and 14 goals.

Braybrook Cowell/John ran away with the victory against PCCSC Nurse Sharks.

The Nurse Sharks kept fighting for the win, only trailing by four goals at halftime. However, Braybrook remained consistent in their attacking, outscoring the Sharks ten goals to six in the second half.

Ebony Dunlop scored fifteen goals for Braybrook, earning herself the title of top scorer for that game.

Glen Orden Gold cruised to the victory in Round 7 against Lakers 5.

Glen Orden had the lead at every turn taking a 20-point lead to keep themselves in the top three on the ladder.

Usual suspect Jaimee Johnson had an excellent game as the leading scorer for Division 5 in Round 7.

Division 6

Laverton White took out a ten-point victory against Manor Lakes Storm 5 in Division 6.

Manor Lakes had the lead in the first half but it was Laverton who proved hungrier for the win, coming back in the second to outscore their opponents fourteen goals to two.

Laverton’s Sophie Tauri was the games lead scorer with 20 goals.

PCCSC Mako Sharks have held onto their top spot on the ladder after a massive 38 to 20 victory over Lakers 6.

The Sharks consistently outscored their opponents at every turn, proving they are the team to beat in Division 6.

PCCSC player Puga Deng scored a massive 35 goals for her side, making her the leading scorer for all of Round 7.
