WFNL NETBALL COMPETITION LANDS THIRD STADIUM

The Western Football Netball League is thrilled to announce the addition of a third venue for the 2025 WFNL Belgravia Apparel Netball Competition.

Along with delivering netball matches at VU Stadium (Whitten Oval) and the State Netball and Hockey Centre (Parkville), the WFNL will also be facilitating matches at Eagle Stadium in Werribee for season 2025.

This collaboration follows a recent approved proposal between the WFNL and the Wyndham Netball Association (WNA), allowing the WFNL to play netball matches at Eagle Stadium on Friday nights. The WFNL will also work closely with the Wyndham Basketball Association (WBA) during the fixturing process to ensure that both netball and basketball competitions are successfully coordinated at the venue from April to August.

Netball in the west is rapidly growing, and the addition of a third venue will be a significant boost to Member Clubs in the Wyndham and surrounding areas. This move aims to support the expansion of participation in netball and provide a more convenient facility for local teams by offering a closer-to-home option.

The new arrangement will result in a ‘home and away’ season format being implemented for Divisions 4 to 7, rotating games between Wyndham-based clubs and clubs from surrounding areas with these clubs playing matches at Eagle Stadium and Whitten Oval.

Meanwhile, Divisions 1 to 3 will be played at the State Netball and Hockey Centre in Parkville for season 2025.

To assist clubs with lower participation numbers, efforts will be made to group them together when playing across both Whitten Oval and Eagle Stadium.

WFNL Netball Coordinator Jordan Dalliston said adding Eagle Stadium as another venue for the competition represents a significant step in supporting the growth of netball in the west.

“This will ensure the sport of netball continues to thrive and that the WFNL has the facilities required to develop talent and foster community engagement across the western suburbs for 2025 and beyond,” she said.
