NEW LADDER LEADER IN RAMS DIVISION 1
By NICK BOYLAN
We have a new ladder leader in RAMS Division 1, as Spotswood replaced Altona in first position with a heavy 126-point win over Albion.
Toby Kopa was spectacular in the win for the Woodsmen, who will look to continue their form into a mouth-watering 1st vs. 2nd clash with Altona next weekend.
The Vikings also had an impressive win this weekend, taking down Werribee Districts by 14-points, in a tough encounter right from the start. The see-sawing encounter had Ben Morton and Judah Dundon perform strongly for the Tigers, as they led by six-points at the last change.
However, Mitch Norton and Jayden Post were excellent when it mattered, helping Altona secure an important victory. The Tigers will be eager to rebound from this performance, when they take on Hoppers Crossing next Saturday.
The Warriors led from the front all day against the in-form St Albans, finishing with a 24-point win. Mitch Palma was excellent right throughout the contest for the Warriors, who remain in the hunt for finals in 6th position. St Albans will hope to get their form back when they host Caroline Springs next weekend.
The Lakers were impressive in their 41-point win over Point Cook, with new recruit Paul Medhurst kicking three goals and looking like a shrewd acquisition. Point Cook will continue to search for a second win in 2019, when they travel to Sunshine next weekend, in what should be a closely fought encounter.

Sunshine will also hope to bounce back from a heavy defeat, going down to the reigning premiers Deer Park by 133-points. The Lions started the game with a 7.4 to 1.2 opening term and never looked back, kicking nine goals to one by half time. Jase Perkins led from the front with seven majors, while Kevin Kilx and Chris Stewart added six goals each.
The win keeps Deer Park in the hunt for a double chance, as they set themselves for a trip to Albion next weekend.
