O’CONNOR MOREIRA JOINS BULLDOGS AFLW

Charlie O’Connor Moreira has become the latest Western Football Netball League product to be drafted into the AFLW by the Western Bulldogs.

The former Point Cook and Altona Juniors standout was selected with pick #45 in the AFL Women’s Draft, joining fellow former WFNL juniors Isabelle Pritchard and Isabella Grant at Whitten Oval.

Some brilliant form for the Western Jets in the Coates Talent Leage in the second half of the season was a key catalyst for her rise up draft boards.

O’Connor Moreira transformed into a speedy and competitive winger in 2025, having played all her junior football at local level as a forward. In nine Coates Talent League games this year she averaged 19.7 disposals, 4.1 marks and 5.4 tackles.

Despite not being a big-bodied player O’Connor Moreira showed she was not scared of physicality and displayed an impressive ability to find space and then burst away with line-breaking pace.

O’Connor Moreira started her football career with Point Cook in 2018 and notched up more than 100 games in the WFNL while kicking plenty of goals along the way.

She played two seasons with Altona Juniors, representing the WFNL in the Under 15 interleague team in 2021 before winning the Under 14 Girls Division 1 best & fairest the following year.

She then returned to Point Cook where she claimed a second straight league best and fairest medal, this time as a bottom age player in the Under 18.5 competition.
