Round 5, part two, of the VU Polytechnic Senior Women’s competition played out over the weekend, with four matches completing the split round.

In Division 2, Laverton claimed a major scalp, overcoming Caroline Springs in a 16-point victory. Emily Mcauliffe and Rirena Blair led the home-turf charge for the Pies, with Madison Cauchi amongst the best for the Lakers.

To complete the round, North Sunshine hosted Wyndamvale, with the Falcons prevailing by a comprehensive 135-points.

Destiny Teuira kicked the sole major for North Sunshine, whilst Wyndhamvale shared the load with 10 individual goal kickers — including dangerous forward Kellee McIntosh, who bagged 8 goals.

In Division 1, Spotswood continued their winning ways, claiming a 35-point victory over Caroline Springs in a hard-fought and physical affair at Converse Oval.

Jessica Mckenzie was influential at stoppages for the Lakers, whilst Molly Althouse and Hannah McMahon starred for the Wolves, hitting the scoreboard and earning time in best.

Meanwhile, the Eagles welcomed Werribee Centrals to Yarraville Oval, but the Centurions proved to be too much, defeating the home side by 23-points.

Eagles Skipper Melanie Thompson-Allan celebrated a milestone 50 games and was well supported around the ground by her teammates, including Ann-Marie Geary and Sierra Grieves.

Larrisa Renaut and Peta Theodorou were standouts for the Centurions, each kicking 2 majors for their side.

After 5 rounds of footy, Spotswood sit atop the Division 1 ladder, and Wyndhamvale have taken the lead in Division 2.
