POSITION CHANGES PROVE PIVOTAL

Seventeen goals from Alexis Climas was the standout in Braybrook Red’s Round 3 win over Glen Orden on Friday night.

Climas played in the Goal Attack position in the second half of the game. The moved proved pivotal for Braybrook Red, who only led by seven goals at half-time.

After some other positional changes the team seemingly clicked into gear, scoring 27 goals to six in the second half. The final score was 41 to 13.

Braybrook Red sit in first place on the ladder after three rounds, while Glen Orden have yet to score a win.

Just three goals separated North Footscray Devils and Sunshine at half-time, but like Braybrook Red, North Footscray Devils was able to capitalise on their opportunities in-front of goal in the second half.

The Devils shot 19 goals to five across the third and fourth quarters, to score a 36 to 19 victory. It was their third consecutive win.

Braybrook Black scored its second straight win on Friday night after they defeated Point Cook Red.

A strong first half proved the difference, with Braybrook leading by eight goals at the main break. They were able to main their pressure in the second half and build on their lead, winning 32 to 18.

Catherine Fajerman and Megan Johnson were in goals, both shooters shot 16 goals apiece.

Albion was on the receiving end of a close loss, after scoring a narrow win in Round 2.

Albion lost to Spotswood by five goals. Jane Matthews shot 22 goals for Spotswood over three quarters. The final score was 45 to 40.

Point Cook Blue scored the biggest win of the round, defeating Albion Cattaz by 68 goals.

Jenna Goricanec was the main target in the goal ring for Point Cook Blue, she scored 34 goals in three quarters.

It was also a great defensive effort by the teams’ defenders, Jane Goodier, Joanne Crozier and Tiffany Riorden, who all rotated through the defensive positions.

Point Cook Blue has been the most attacking team of the competition. Over the first three games, they have scored 165 goals. They have also been strong in defence, allowing just 44 goals through.

Finally, Caroline Springs forfeited against the North Footscray Red Devils.
