PROUD CATS GET JOB DONE

By CONNOR PAIN

Albion produced one of their best games of the past few seasons, to upset a fast-finishing Glen Orden 12.10. (82) to 9.20. (74) in Round 4 of the Prestige Group Real Estate Division 2 competition.

The Hawks got the jump early with 10 scoring shots to two in the opening term, but poor conversion negated a strong start.

The Cats hit back in the second with three goals to one and took the lead going into the main break, but it was their performance in the third quarter that turned the tide for the home side.

Seven goals to two pushed Albion’s two-point advantage at the main break to a 27-point lead going into the last term.

Glen Orden won the last quarter four goals to one but it wasn’t enough, inaccurate kicking coming back to bite the Hawks who finished with 20 behinds, as they went down by eight points.

It was Albion’s first win in 1043 days.

The win pushes Albion to sixth ahead of a Round 5 clash with ladder-leaders Parkside, with Glen Orden hosting Newport in what is shaping up as an exciting match-up.

A late fourth quarter from Wyndhamvale’s Daniel Dhal sealed a six-point win over Newport on Saturday night.

Despite Jack Papachatzakis’ seven goals, Newport weren’t able to get over the line as the Falcons proved too strong at home in one of the games of the round.

Wyndhamvale had 10 individual goal kickers. Liam Scarborough led the way for the home side, with three majors.

The 15.6. (96) to 13.12. (90) win puts Wyndhamvale a game clear of the chasing pack in fourth spot.

Brayden Razlog’s five goals led Point Cook Centrals to their first victory of the 2021 season. Their 18.12. (120) to 8.21. (69) win against West Footscray.

Despite recording just one more scoring shot, (30 to 29), the Roosters were convincingly beaten, going down by 51-points.

Finally, Parkside continued their hot start to the season, defeating North Footscray by 80-points.

Aaron Flavel and Brent Kelly each kicked five goals in the win.
