RED DEVILS RESURGENCE BEGINS

North Footscray has announced David Battistella as it’s new Senior Coach.

After opening the role to the public and going through a thorough selection process, the club announced Battistella was the standout candidate.

“After presiding over a premiership win for East Keilor in 2016, David has since taken the time to recharge the batteries, he now has the coaching fire burning again and is very keen to take the North Footscray football side to the next level,” North Footscray president Jason McCluskey said.

Battistella’s assistant coaches will be Wayne Davis, Warrick Lucas and Ross Headley.

McCluskey said Battistella had a long affiliation with the Devils and is focus moving forward was two-fold.

“To give the football side the best possible chance at team success with his entire coaching team and to work with the Football Operations Manager and Committee to help deliver on the five year Strategy Document produced in early 2020,” he said.

McCluskey said he was excited about the appointment.

“With the committee continuing to increase the level of professionalism of our club and the appointment of such an experienced coaching group – the Red Devils resurgence continues.”

The announcement also follows some several key signings the club has announced in recent weeks.

Former premiership captain Sam Kater is returning to the club after a stint overseas.

Matt Smith has also committed for another season in the red and white. As has Adam Vukovic, Corey Edwards, Tyron Bennett and Harry Brown.

New to the club in 2021, is Paddy Murray. Murray comes to the club from Henty in the Hume League.
