ROADRUNNERS AND ROOSTERS SCORE FIRST WINS

NORTH Sunshine and West Footscray both scored their first wins of the Victoria University Polytechnic Senior Women’s season, defeating Tarneit and Point Cook Centrals respectively.

Only 11-points separated the Roadrunners and the Titans at three-quarter time, which meant we were headed for a thrilling final stanza.

Not fazed by the highly-pressured final term, North Sunshine kicked two goals to zero to secure their first win.

Noelle Burden, Odeth Lopez and Rebekkah Saward kicked the Roadrunners’ three goals. Michelle Chadwick also played well in the 24-point victory.

West Footscray also registered their first win, downing Point Cook Centrals by 30-points.

Scores were level at the first break, but the Roosters stepped it up a notch in the second, scoring two goals to zero and led by 15-points at half-time.

They increased their lead to 22-points at three quarter time, before finishing the game 30-points ahead. The final score was 6.7. (43) to 2.1. (13)

Molly Boorman and Emma Farrugia kicked two goals each for West Footscray. Emily Duffy was best on ground.

For the Sharks, Ciara Elliot and Zoe Collier kicked their only goals.

Manor Lakes scored another strong victory, this week it was against Spotswood on Friday under lights.

The Storm continued their winning run, defeating the third placed Spotswood for the second time this season. Manor Lakes had seven individual goal kickers. Kellee McIntosh had another standout forward performance kicking four goals.

The home side controlled the match from the first bounce, proving they are the benchmark of the competition.

Finally, Caroline Springs put in a dominant performance against Werribee Centrals on Saturday night.

The Lakers had eight goal kickers in the 119-point win.

Caitlyn Balshaw kicked five goals, while Alexandra Fato kicked three goals in a best on ground display.
