Round 8 of the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee Senior Women’s competition saw a new leading goal-kicker emerge and the premiership contenders continue to stake their claims with more impressive results.

In an early morning encounter on Saturday, Caroline Springs hosted North Sunshine, downing the Roadrunners by 185-points.

Lakers excitement machine Jacinta Kondis kicked a huge 11 majors on the day, earning herself top spot in the race for the competition’s goal kicking honours.

Rebecca Telfer and Kiara Halley worked hard for the visitors, whilst Angelina Petaia, Jordin Williamson and Cailtilin Petty (seven goals) were the best for Caroline Springs.

West Footscray headed to Laverton Park to take on the Magpies, holding the hosts scoreless in a 57-point win.

Alannah Sander and Tara McBean were the standout contributors for the Roosters with Rosalie Needham and Tamara Christie standing up for Laverton.

At Goddard Street Reserve, the Suns went head-to-head with Yarraville Seddon, and further cemented their place in the top two with a 48-point win over the visiting Eagles.

The Suns kept their opposition to just a single major, with Emily Allan celebrated her 100th game in style, bagging three goals, and was well supported by the efforts of her teammates Verity Cox and Ally Evans.

Phoebe McWilliams and Hannah Lazzaro were named in the best for Yarraville Seddon.

To round out the weekend Parkside made a statement, running over Wyndhamvale by 114 points.

Chloe Prior and Mariah Burton impressed for the Falcons, being named their team’s best players, but were unable to contain the lively Spurs outfit.

Mary Sandral starred in attack kicking six goals for her side and was named in Parkside’s best alongside Rita Ceravolo.
