ROOSTERS READY FOR FIRST BOUNCE

West Footscray coach Shane Windridge says his team’s focus for the remainder of the season is to re-connect both on and off the field as well as have fun.

The Victoria University Polytechnic Senior Women’s competition along with all other competitions have had interrupted seasons due to Melbourne’s lockdowns. However, the season will recommence this weekend.

The Roosters currently sit on top of the Division 2 ladder after the overall competition split into two divisions.

“The season so far has been really good,” Windridge said.

“We’ve had so many new players join us who are loving playing football and being part of a club, and are getting better every game they play.

“We are also seeing some of our more experienced players gaining confidence in taking the game on more and developing their games.”

Windridge said despite lockdown having its challenges, the break has allowed some of his injured players to rehab. He said every player was looking forward to the first bounce on Saturday.

“The team is excited to get back playing, everyone is sick of training and not knowing when the next game will be,” he said.

“To get a few games in a row will allow the team to reconnect and just enjoy the whole match day experience.

“We are going to view every game from here on as a bonus and just focus on having fun as a team.”

West Footscray will host Wyndhamvale at Shorten Reserve on Saturday. The game begins at 5pm.
