SEASON RESTART BRINGS EXCITING MATCHES

Whilst we couldn’t be there cheering from the boundary, Round 9 delivered some cracking games and some big shifts in the ladder, as the VU Polytechnic Senior Women’s Competition moves into the second half of the season.
The forced rest appeared to have little impact on the intensity of matches, with some close matches featured across the weekend.
Kicking off on Friday night at Saltwater Reserve, Point Cook escaped with a narrow two-point win over the Falcons.
Kristen McKinnis stood tall for Bulldogs, kicking their only goal and was names amongst her team’s best.
Point Cook Centrals went head-to-head with Braybrook/Albanvale, overcoming the home side in conclusive 58-point win. Tiana Jackson valiantly held her own and kept the Braybrook/Albanvale backline accountable but was unable to withhold the Sharks’ assault on the goals.
Sam Oliver kicked her first for Point Cook Centrals in the opening quarter, whilst Sarah and Mary Daw’s stand-out second efforts helped the Sharks lock the ball into their scoring half for most of the game.
Yarraville Seddon hosted Werribee Centrals, and in a strong showing against the visitors, held the lead for all four quarters. Ann-Marie Geary bagged three for the Eagles and helped to seal the win for her team, 7.4. (46) to 5.6. (36).
In arguably the most exciting match of the weekend, Hoppers Crossing took on ladder-leaders Spotswood at Hogans Road Reserve.
In what was a tough contest between two finals contenders, Spotswood was able to hold-off a final surge from the Warriors to win by 11-points.
It was a team performance by the Wolves, who have not missed a beat in 2021. For the Warriors, Emma Ludolff and Odeth Lopez were the standouts.

Kerrie Clarke kicked two for Spotswood, Sarah Thomas was named best on ground.
To round out the weekend, an in-form Manor Lakes ran over North Sunshine in a definitive 152-point win. Tall Lauren Clymo starred for the Storm, kicking an unrivalled seven goals for her side, whilst Yana Frontczak and Samantha Richardson were also instrumental in the victory.
