SENIOR MEN’S TRAINING SQUAD NAMED
The Western Football Netball League is pleased to reveal the training squad for this year’s Senior Men’s Interleague team to take on the Southern Football Netball League in May.
The initial 39-member squad includes numerous stars of the competition including 2024 Barry Priest Medalist Alex Paech, two-time MVP winner Michael Selsby and last season’s TIV Division 1 leading goal kicker Tom Condon.
More than half the squad is currently or was previously VFL-listed with three players also AFL-listed at one point, the most recent of those being Altona recruit Emerson Jeka who has returned to his junior club after five years with Hawthorn and Geelong.
There are four players in the squad who represented the WFNL in its last Interleague outing with Nick Buykx, Braden Ferrari, Nayef Hamad and Daniel Nielson all lining up against the Goulburn Valley Football Netball League six years ago.
Lachlan Green, Zac Pritchard and Colby Redpath who played in the Under 18s match last time round have now been picked as members of the senior squad.
The squad will eventually be trimmed to 25 players with 23 players to line up against the Southern FNL on May 17.
The WFNL will face Southern in Senior Men’s, Under 19 Men’s and Senior Women’s football matches to be played at Avalon Airport Oval in Werribee, while the two leagues will also meet in Netball clash at the nearby Eagle Stadium.
