Parkside Spurs vs Werribee Centrals
Parkside Spurs 17.12-114 to Werribee Centrals 0.1-1 Â |Â Parkside Spurs won by 113 points
The biggest surprise of the weekend was delivered to WFNL fans when Parkside Spurs and Werribee Centrals met in a table of the table clash. Many had expected the second-ranked Centurions to run close to the dominant ladder-leading Parkside — instead, the Spurs comfortably ousted their opposition by 113-points.
Young gun Marlo Atkins starred for the Spurs kicking five goals with midfielders Taquila Angel and Natalie Pearce also influential. Lonet Bugeja and Julia Nash fought valiantly for the Centrals finishing as the top performers for their side.
The match also marked the 150-game milestone of Tara Morgan, a much loved and respected stalwart of the Spurs outfit. Across her career, Morgan has claimed plenty of accolades, including that of Premiership Captain, Coach, Best Club Person, and Spurs Team of the Decade vice-captain.
As we near the halfway mark of the home and away season, the contenders are stepping forward and separating from the pack. Spur Aleisha Casley has now taken top spot on the leading goalkickers ladder with 21 majors and is closely followed by Falcon Larissa Renaut on 18.
Whilst Parkside remains unbeatable, spots 2-4 on the ladder are well and truly in play.
