SENIOR WOMEN’S AND UNDER 18 WOMEN’S DECIDERS SET

Werribee Centrals are through to their first St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee Senior Women’s Grand Final after defeating Parkside Spurs in the Preliminary Final.

Having lost to Grand Final opponent Caroline Springs a week earlier, the minor premiers fired on all cylinders against the Spurs, kicking a season-high score against a top four side to win through 15.6 (96) to 3.7 (25).

Taylah Bloss, Meghann Basto, Georgia Paul, and Jessica Spall were all outstanding for the Centurions who led by 53 points at halftime as Parkside was restricted to just three behinds in the opening two terms.

Spurs finally got on the board in the third quarter as Taquila Angel, Rita Ceravolo and Stephanie Holland tried to rally their side, but they would only make a small dent in a commanding Werribee Centrals lead.

It was mostly all one-way traffic in the last as the Centurions added another five goals to comfortably advance to this weekend’s decider.

League leading goal kicker Larissa Renaut was also a difference maker booting seven of her side’s 15 majors.

Saturday’s Grand Final between Caroline Springs and Werribee Centrals will be played at Skinner Reserve from 2:15pm.

The Under 18 Women’s Grand Final will take place prior to the Senior Women’s decider and will be contested by Caroline Springs and Point Cook.

Caroline Springs booked its spot in the big dance with an 8.18 (66) to 3.5 (23) win against Spotswood/Newport Power in Saturday’s First Semi Final.

The Lakers struggled to make the most of their opportunities in front of goal all day but were able to extend their advantage at every change as they joined their senior counterparts with a place in the final game of the year.

Leivi Lane starred with five goals in a best on ground performance for Caroline Springs and was well supported by Chloe Gatt and Chloe Kropman.

Olivia Cavka, Ella Royston, Summer Sanders were the top performers for Spotswood/Newport Power.

Point Cook secured its place in the Grand Final with a third quarter blitz helping them overcome Point Cook Centrals in their Semi Final encounter.

A tight opening half saw the Sharks up by a point at the first change before the Bulldogs went into the main break leading by two points.

However, Point Cook tore the game open after the resumption with a five-goal to none third term seeing them establish a 31-point buffer ahead of the last.

The deficit would prove too much for Point Cook Centrals despite the efforts of Charli Sette, Chloe Elkington and Emma Davis.

The Under 18 Women’s Grand Final will kick off at 11:45am at Skinner Reserve.
