SHARKS RISE TO ROOSTERS CHALLENGE

Point Cook Centrals remain undefeated in the Victoria University Polytechnic Senior Women’s Division 2 competition, after a challenge from West Footscray.

The Roosters threw down the gauntlet to the ladder-leaders, forcing the Sharks to earn their 26-point victory, their 13th straight win of the season.

The game was hard fought from the opening siren, with the two teams clashing in a very physical and contested affair.

The score was locked in the single digits until the final quarter until Madeline Johnson and Mickaela Derschow were finally able to click into gear, helping the Sharks break through – kicking three goals to run out 4.4. (28) to 0.2. (2) winners.

In other Division 2 Results, Caroline Springs prevailed over Wyndhamvale by 33-points under Friday night lights.

Carissa Whiley kicked two of her side’s six goals, with her daughter Kiera Whiley also impressing. Brooke Prior and Mariah Burton were strong for the Falcons.

Point Cook hosted Laverton at Saltwater Reserve also on Friday night, winning by 47-points.

Tegan Hamilton added to her season haul with three goals, with her teammates Lily Smead and Verity Cox earning time in best for their efforts.

Saturday saw Manor Lakes take on Hoppers Crossing in Division 1 action, with the Storm winning its second consecutive game.

The final score was Manor Lakes 13.11. (89) to Hoppers Crossing 0.1. (1).

Yana Frontczak was back to her goal-kicking best, kicking five goals, while Warriors Jess and Emily McAuliffe were strong under pressure.

Finally, Spotswood registered a 43-point win over Division 1 challengers Werribee Centrals.

The Wolves boasted seven individual goal kickers, with Elissia Natale named best on ground.
