SKILLS WORKSHOP A SUCCESS
More than 60 Junior, Youth and Senior female players from across the WRFL picked up some new skills at the Women’s Football Skills Workshop at Avalon Airport Oval on Tuesday night.
Former AFL player and current Werribee FC playing midfield coach Michael Barlow lent his expertise in the strength and conditioning component of the session, while David Newett from Kick2Advantage was on hand to give players tips and tricks on the kicking mechanisms.
Werribee FC assistant coach Jeff Andrews educated participants on the correct tackling techniques to protect their body while also going for the football.
Hayley Gossow who is involved with the Collingwood VFLW team also put the girls through some game sense drills.
A big thank you to WRFL partner Sherrin for supplying a range of prizes for players who attended.
Both the Tarneit and Altona Junior Football Clubs were also rewarded for having the most girls in attendance and were the lucky winners of a singed North Melbourne AFLW guernsey and a signed Western Bulldogs AFLW Pride guernsey.
The session showcased the longstanding partnership between the Werribee Football Club and the WRFL and their commitment to giving back to community.
