Manor Lakes coach Mark De Girolamo says we should expect to see an exciting brand of football from his team this season.

The Storm coach believes the year off has inspired his team, with the hunger to be better and to win returning to the playing group as well as the coaches.

Manor Lakes’ last match of the Victoria University Polytechnic Senior Women’s competition was their three-point loss to Caroline Springs in the Preliminary Final in 2019.

Their first match of 2021 will be this Saturday against Hoppers Crossing.

“Not being able to play, let alone train together was a harsh reality of what we all were going through together as a country let alone a club,” De Girolamo said.

“I believe the year off has given the hunger back too both the playing and coaching group. When something is taken away from you, you tend to want it more when it is available.”

De Girolamo said he approached pre-season with caution but also had a sense of excitement that footy was back.

“After missing a whole season of football, we have approached this season with caution with COVID-19 still out there around the world,” he said.

“But in saying that we also approach the season with a sense of excitement.

“We look forward to the year ahead and hope to see continued growth, improvement and development in all teams in the WRFL.”
