A top-two clash between Caroline Springs and Manor Lakes, proved to be one of the games of the season.
The two best sides of the VU Polytechnic Competition, have typically dominated their opposition over the past 12 weeks, however this clash was a lot closer.
Manor Lakes gave themselves a good head-start in the first half as Caroline Springs were unable to convert and had just three behinds on the board, while the Storm made the most of their opportunities in front of goal, kicking five goals.
Kellee McIntosh and Lindsay Newton each kicked two goals, while Yana Frontczak kicked one.

The scoreboard pressure from the Lakers in the third quarter just wasn’t enough to intimidate the Storm, despite not kicking a goal in the second half. Both teams worked extremely hard in the third and fourth quarters.
It was a much more defensive effort from both sides.
The final score was Manor Lakes 5.9. (39) to Caroline Springs 2.5. (17).
The Lakers should take some positives out of the match, the kept the Storm to its lowest score this season.
Elsewhere, Point Cook Centrals opened up the gap between fifth and sixth this week, when they defeated Werribee Centrals by 40 points.
It was a hard-fought effort from both teams up until the fourth quarter as the Sharks kicked four goals to none to seal victory. Sharni Currie kicked four goals, while Teagan Porter and Gabrielle Coles each kicked singles.
Askani Pirihi played well for the Sharks, while Natalie Marinis was Werribee Centrals’ best player.
Seven individual goal kickers got the job done for Laverton this week, as they had an impressive 49-point win over North Sunshine. The Magpies kicked five goals in the first quarter, making it difficult for the Roadrunners to make any impact on the scoreboard.
Stephanie Hartnup kicked two goals and had an outstanding performance for the Magpies, while Sasha Edwards was also influential. North Sunshine’s Megan Chadwick kicked four goals in her side’s defeat.
