STORM STILL TEAM TO BEAT

A top-two clash this week between Manor Lakes and Caroline Springs, has confirmed that Manor Lakes are still the team to beat. The Storm won by 27-points, but were held to their lowest score of the season after some great defensive pressure from the Lakers.

Despite having just three scoring shots to the winners’ 18, Caroline Springs held strong and to lose by what they did, to a side that has dominated teams all year, was honourable.

Yana Frontczak kicked three goals for Manor Lakes, while Kellee McIntosh, Gemma Anderson and Rach Court all kicked one each.

Tarneit and Point Cook Centrals had a well-contested match, as the Sharks took home the four points after an 11-point win. They dominated in the first half, kicking five goals to one, and despite a late fightback from Tarneit, were able to hold onto their lead to get the win.

Sharni Currie kicked three goals for the Sharks, and Zoe Collier, Morgan King and Bianca Rose Findlay each kicked one.

Tarneit had five individual goal-kickers in Sarah Hillis, Mirae Holland, Tegan Hamilton, Emma Quinn and Alysha Hammond.

Laverton got the win against West Footscray, and hold their top-four position. With the Roosters’ newly found form, this match was a must win for both teams as we move into the second half of the season.

Ashlee Hika was outstanding, kicking three of the Magpies’ six goals. Tessa Hika, Sasha Edwards and Taquila Angel kicked one each. West Footscray did not score a goal, managing just six behinds.

The Magpies are now a game clear of the Roosters, and have made a statement that they are finals ready.

Werribee Centrals ran over the top of North Sunshine, who were kept scoreless all afternoon. The Roadrunners suffered a 76-point loss.

Brianna Gale played well and was best on ground for Werribee Centrals, as her game style was a key element of her side’s big win.
