SUNS INFLICT CENTURIONS’ FIRST LOSS, LAVERTON ON THE BOARD

Round 6 of the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee Senior Women’s competition saw the Suns stage a major upset, ending Werribee Centrals’ unbeaten run with a 16-point victory on Saturday morning.
Leading at every turn, the Suns held strong in the face of a third-quarter surge from the visiting side.
Ally Evans and Mikayla Robinson starred for the Suns, whilst Lauren Basto and Khayle Forsyth were the Centurions’ best.
Laverton claimed a decisive 47-point win over North Sunshine at Laverton Park to claim their first win of the season.
Amy Duggan and Sam Devlin worked hard for the Roadrunners but were unable to keep the lively Magpies contained.
Ruth Walker and Brittney Downer earned time in the best for Laverton, with the latter bagging two goals for her side.
Also on Saturday morning Parkside Spurs welcomed West Footscray to Merv Hughes Oval, registering a 62-point win over the Roosters.
Boasting six individual goal kickers, Spurs’ Jemma Stokes and Rita Ceravolo were best on for their side, whilst Angela Dickson and lone goal kicker Kaila Ducret impacted the play for the away team.
To complete the fixture, Yarraville Seddon took on Wyndhamvale in a battle of the birds, with the Eagles coming out on top by 67 points in their midday clash at Yarraville Oval.
Gabby Menabue earned best on and celebrated her 50th game milestone with Katelyn Kissack and Rosie Ronan-Yates each bagging three goals.
Amanda Tenney and Chloe Prior were named the top performers for the Falcons.
