SUNSHINE COME OUT ON TOP
Sunshine have pushed their way into the top four after a massive 16.22(118) to 5.7(37) victory over North Footscray in Round 7 of the Division 2 competition.
North Footscray fought hard for the win, but after a lackluster first quarter that saw Sunshine dominate eight goals to none, there was no coming back for the Devil’s.
Jack Waters was best on ground for North Footscray after an excellent game, with teammate Joel Richardson also landing on the list of bests after kicking two of the teams five goals.
Fabian Brancatisano was the standout player of the game, kicking seven goals for Sunshine with a best on ground performance.
Newport were triumphant over Wyndhamvale in their fourth win in a row in Round 7 after taking down the Falcons in a 15.9(99) to 6.8(44) victory.
The game remained even for the first half, with Newport leading by just five points at the end of the second quarter. However, Newport dominated in the second, kicking eleven goals to Wyndhamvale’s three.
Youseff El Hawli and Abdul Jawad were the leading goal scorers for Newport, with five and four goals each.
Parkside have continued on with their hot streak in Round 7, knocking Albion down to third place on the ladder after defeating the side 13.10 (88) to 8.7 (55).
Albion came out strong in the first quarter, kicking two goals to Parkside’s zero. However Parkside came back with something to prove in the second quarter, kicking four goals this time to Albion’s zero.
Shaun Campbell, Lachlan Langwell and Karl Staudt for Parkside all kicked three goals each, with teammate Maxwell Naughton dominating the field for his side with a best on ground performance.
