SUNSHINE TAKES OUT THIRDS PREMIERSHIP

Sunshine has capped off a stellar season with a commanding 43-point triumph over Yarraville Seddon in Friday night’s Thirds Grand Final to claim the 2025 premiership.

In the rematch of last year’s decider, the Kangaroos reversed the result 12 months on, lifting the cup with a 12.5 (77) to 5.4 (34) result at Laverton Park.

Despite trailing by six points at quarter time, Sunshine surged in the second term, slamming on five goals to one to take a 19-point lead into halftime.

Despite a tight third quarter the Kangaroos continued their dominance through the second half, controlling possession and applying scoreboard pressure, while keeping the Eagles at bay.

They finished with a burst, adding 4.1 to a lone Yarraville Seddon goal in the last to seal victory.

The win completes a near-perfect season for Sunshine who lost once during the home and away campaign to finish as minor premiers and then went unbeaten through the finals.

Sunshine’ s Ferras Merhi was awarded the best on ground medal from the umpires and Raafat Rachrache, the competition’s leading the goal kicker, finished with a game-high four majors.

For Yarraville Seddon, Max Johnson was named the top performer for his side.
