SUPER SATURDAY FOR VU SENIOR WOMEN

The Mother’s Day weekend saw a super Saturday of footy in Round 4 of the Victoria University Polytechnic Senior Women’s Competition.

Kicking things off for the day, Caroline Springs hosted Spotswood, locking in a 19-point victory against the Wolves in Division 1. The Lakers controlled the game — leading at every break — with Caitlin Pretty registering three majors for her side.

Hoppers Crossing went head-to-head with Werribee Centrals in their hit out at Hogans Road Reserve. Larissa Renaut continued her goal-kicking form, bagging eight goals, in the Centurion’s 71-point win over the Warriors.

Bouncing back from a Covid-plagued week prior, Manor Lakes dominated Yarraville Seddon in a 56-point win. The first quarter was relatively even, before the Storm put their foot on the gas and surged home for the win, with 100-gamer Yana Frontczack and Jaimi Paten each kicking two for the side.

In Division 2, Braybrook/Albanvale hosted Wyndhamvale at Robert Bruce Oval, going down to the visitors by 34-points. Molly Chant kicked three goals on debut for the Falcons and was named amongst the best.

Point Cook Centrals and Caroline Springs went head-to-head in a special Breast Cancer Network Australia Mother’s Day game — the Sharks cruising to a comfortable 79-point win.

Mother-daughter duo Carrisa and Keira Whiley took to the field for the Lakers, the latter claiming a best player medallion alongside 50-gamer Mickaela Derschow from the sharks.

Over at Laverton Park, the Magpies took on the North Sunshine Roadrunners, the home side prevailing in a tight 13-point win. Mirae Holland and Kayla Stavreski both hit the scoreboard for Laverton.

To round out the bumper day of footy, West Footscray hosted Point Cook for their second annual Jan Hindson Memorial Game, upsetting the Dogs by four points in the final quarter.

Courtney Mangelsdorf was strong under pressure for the Roosters, whilst Kirra Grimes was influential for Point Cook.
