TIGERS KICK FINAL TWO GOALS TO DEFEAT WARRIORS

Werribee Districts kept its undefeated season alive with a thrilling, come from behind win against Hoppers Crossing, turning a 12-point three quarter time deficit into a one-point victory.

The visitors were ahead after the opening quarter, but went into the main break down by 10-points. Hoppers Crossing looked the goods after the half-time break however, holding the second-placed Districts to just one behind and kicking three goals themselves.

Werribee ran over the top in the final quarter, booting five goals to three and extending its winning streak to five games.

The 9.8. (62) to 9.7. (61) win puts the Districts two games clear of third placed Deer Park on the ladder ahead of its clash with Wyndhamvale in Round 6.

The Warriors will look to bounce back when they travel to face Sunshine in two weeks time.

Eight goals in the fourth quarter helped Altona overcome an eight-point deficit at three quarter time and run out 15.9. (99) to 11.11. (77) victors against St. Albans.

The Vikings winning streak looked in jeopardy for most of the afternoon, but their offence came alive in the final quarter, its eight goals in the term more than they’d scored in the first three quarters combined, running out 22-point winners.

Patrick Rose kicked four goals for the Vikings, continuing his run of good form while Leigh Brennan booted five majors for the Saints in the loss.

Altona will host Caroline Springs after this week’s bye while St. Albans will travel to local rivals Deer Park.

Spotswood booted three goals to zero in the final quarter to come from behind and down Sunshine by six points.

The Woodsmen had eight scoring shots to zero in the last term, turning a 17-point deficit into a 9.20. (74) to 10.8. (68) win as they now sit percentage outside of the top four.

Spotswood captain Murray Boyd kicked the winning goal.

The loss pushes Sunshine to second last on the ladder ahead of its clash with Hoppers Crossing while Spotswood will host Albion in search of their fourth win of the year.

Rex Hickman’s three goals helped Caroline Springs win its first game of the season, downing Wyndhamvale 9.14. (68) to 4.6. (30).

The 38-point win lifts the Lakers to eighth on the ladder, as the Falcons remain the last winless team in the competition.

Kwame McHarg and Jase Perkins each kicked six goals in Deer Park’s 62-point win against Albion.

Their combined twelve goals was more than the entire Cats team in the Lions’ 19.16. (130) to 10.8. (68) victory.
