TOP SIDES ASSERT THEIR DOMINANCE IN ROUND FOUR

Big wins were the feature in Round 4 of the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee Senior Women’s football fixture, with the top sides asserting their positions on the upper end of the competition ladder.
Suns welcomed Caroline Springs to Goddard Street Reserve on Saturday morning hoping to claim another home win, but the visitors had other ideas, overcoming the newly formed side by 46-points.
Emily Evans and Mikayla Robinson starred under pressure and were named in the Suns best, whilst Jas Bongiovanni was influential for the Lakers’ midfield with the load shared up forward with three players each kicking two goals.
At Merv Hughes Oval, Parkside Spurs took on Laverton and overwhelmed the Magpies by 127 points.
Nadine Lampard was dangerous in front of goal for the Spurs kicking four majors and was well supported by teammate Taquila Angel around the ground.
Rosalie Needham and Katherine Coulston were the Magpies’ best performers for the day, working tirelessly for the visiting side.
In the battle between Wyndhamvale and Werribee Centrals, the Centurions continued their unbeaten run, locking in top spot on the ladder with a 59-point victory.
Julia Nash and Meghann Basto starred for the Centurions alongside Larissa Renaut who bagged a season-best six majors, while Amanda Tessari and Molly Chant were among the best for the Falcons.
The final match for the round was played out between suburban rivals Yarraville Seddon and West Footscray, with the Eagles coming out on top with an 82-point triumph.
Rosie Ronan-Yates was the star in attack for the home side kicking four goals while teammate Lahne Scrivener impressed around the ground, with Laycee Covington-Gorst and Tanya Derrick leading the contest for the Roosters.
