Training Locations

We encourage all umpires to train with the umpiring group as it develops great camaraderie and provides support to achieve your best. The WRFL provides multiple training venues to allow all umpires to be involved.

Seddon (Hanmer Reserve, Harris St, Yarraville)

Preseason training at Hanmer Reserve is held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5.45pm

In-season training at Hanmer Reserve is held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5.45pm

Hanmer Reserve is also the home of the WRFL Umpires Association club rooms, where food and drinks are available for purchase.

Werribee (MacKillop College, Russell Street, Werribee)

Umpire Academy sessions are held at MacKillop College on Monday afternoons from 4pm, from 3 April 2023.  These training sessions are for beginner umpires.

Point Cook (Dunnings Road Reserve, Point Cook)

Umpire Academy sessions are held at Dunnings Road Oval on Monday afternoons from 4pm, from 3 April 2023.  These training sessions are for beginner umpires.

Hoppers Crossing (Hogans Rd Reserve, Hoppers Crossing)

Umpire Academy sessions are held at Hogans Rd Reserve on Monday afternoons from 4pm, from 3 April 2023.  These training sessions are for beginner umpires.

Coaching Sessions

A range of coaching sessions are generally held every week (refer to the Season Planner on the News & Information page for more detail). At these sessions coaches will take you through rules, interpretations and skills you require to umpire on the weekend. A Season Planner is published in advanced so umpires can plan their nights.
