VU WRFL ROUND 12 NETBALL WRAP

Spotswood Gold won its sixth game of the Victoria University WRFL Division 1 season on Friday night, defeating Point Cook Centrals Great White Sharks by nine goals.

Point Cook Centrals’ slow start proved costly, with Spotswood opening an eight-goal lead at quarter time.

Naomi Parker and Hayley Cran were the standouts for Spotswood, with Parker shooting 28 of her team’s 48 goals.

Second-placed Braybrook Whitten scored a 20-goal win over North Footscray She Devils 1.

Braybrook Whitten had a big second half, scoring 28 goals to 13, to improve their win loss ratio to eight wins and one loss for the season.

Stacey Lee and Emma Vitalone played well for the Brookers, while Sarah Bates worked hard for the Devils.

Braybrook Hawkins also scored a 47-22 victory over Point Cook Blue. Braybrook came to play in the first quarter, shooting 18 goals to three.

Shooter Cassandra Pell was in great form in the attacking goal ring, while Kathryn Topic also played well in the defending third.

Manor Lakes Storm 2 kept its finals hopes alive in Division 2 with a one goal win over Braybrook Priest.

Storm mid-court players Briar Ellis and Emily Evans provided plenty of run throughout the court and were two standout players.

In other results, ladder-leaders Point Cook Centrals Hammerhead Sharks scored a six-goal win over Spotswood Green and Point Cook Red defeated Wyndhamvale Falcons Green 39-21.

Sunshine Kangaroos defeated Braybrook John in Division 3. The Kangaroos put in one of their best performance of the season on Friday, defeating the Brookers 42-29.

Roiroi Naicovi was a star in the goal ring, having shot 35 goals in the victory.

The win edges the Kangaroos closer to the top four. They are now just one win behind Braybrook John.

Albanvale and Laverton Magpies Black couldn’t be separated. At the final siren, scores were level 23-23.

Point Cook Centrals Tiger Sharks scored a five-goal win over Albion. Lovey Morunga and Rebecca Salmon played well. Finally, Point Cook White defeated North Footscray She Devils 3 24-11.

Wyndhamvale Falcons Gold held on to win by a goal against Glen Orden Westwood Hawks.

The Hawks outscored the Falcons in the final quarter, but it wasn’t enough to bridge the gap, with Wyndhamvale winning 28-27.

Chloe Desira and Mikaella Nelson played well for the Hawks.

Finally, Sunshine Heights defeated Glen Orden First National Hawks and Manor Lakes Lightning won 37-19 against Laverton Magpies White.
