WARRIORS FLEX THEIR MUSCLE

Round 6 of the Western Region Football League TIV Under 19 competition saw only two games played over the weekend instead of the usual three, as Spotswood forfeited their clash against Point Cook, subsequently resulting in the Bulldogs getting points for the first time in Season 2018.

In one of the two clashes that took place, Hoppers Crossing flexed their muscle over Newport with a dominant 125-point win.

The Warriors took control of the proceedings from the opening bounce and never let up, as they raced to a 54-point lead at the main break.

The second half saw no relief for the Power, as the Warriors continued to extend their margin, kicking eight goals to two. The victory was a further reminder that Hoppers Crossing is a major force and potential premiership contender in this year’s campaign.

Meanwhile, Ali Elhawli and Riley Fisher were highly influential for the Warriors.

The final score was 21.13. (139) to 2.2. (14).

The victory sees Hoppers Crossing retain their spot on top of the ladder, while Newport sit in sixth.

In the other game that took place in Round 6, another dominant performance from star forward Daniel Pantalleresco saw Altona prevail over Caroline Springs 12.9. (81) to 3.11. (29).

Seven goals from Pantalleresco was highly influential in the victory, as the Lakers were unable to stop the competition’s leading goal-kicker, who has currently booted 22 goals in five games so far.

William McConville was also a big factor in the Vikings’ victory, while Christian Verdino’s work around the ground also ensured that Altona outlasted the visitors.

For the Lakers, Daniel Scerri and Brian Gill fought gallantly all day.

Meanwhile, Werribee Districts had the bye and will look to galvanise their campaign against Altona in Round 7.
