WFNL COMES UP SHORT AT ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Western Football Netball League has performed strongly in its latest trip to the Netball Victoria Association Championships but fell agonisingly short of a finals appearance.

Playing at the State Netball Centre on Sunday, the WFNL side coached by Chris Bandel ended the tournament with four wins and three losses, finishing fourth in its eight-team pool.

Wins against the Northern Pride Netball Association, Northen Football Netball League, Whitehorse Netball Association and Hoppers Crossing Netball Association weren’t enough to see the WFNL progress with the top two teams from each group advancing to the finals.

Among the WFNL’s defeats was a nail-biting one-goal loss to the Ovens and Murray Football Netball League, who along with the Goulburn Valley Football Netball League advanced from Pool 1, the stronger of the two pools.

See the scores for all seven WFNL games below (match length: 2x 8-minute halves).
