WFNL LOVES THE GAME NOT THE ODDS
The Western Football Netball League is pleased to continue its partnership with the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation’s Love the Game program, which aims to counter the normalisation of sports betting in our community.
The WFNL has now been a Love the Game partner since 2016, and actively works towards reducing the exposure of young people to excessive sports gambling advertising in the community.
With more than 70 per cent of WFNL clubs also committed to the Love the Game program, as a collective our League is demonstrating to our young people that sport and betting don’t have to go together.
The Love the Game program provides information about how gambling works, the associated risks and potential harms caused by sports betting. It also helps our young players to develop their critical thinking skills before they are legally allowed to place a bet, so they can make a considered decision about participating.
The WFNL is committed to saying no to sports betting sponsorships and raising awareness about the risks associated with gambling.
Sport is about loving the game, not the odds.
Anyone negatively affected by their own or someone else’s gambling can access confidential free advice, support and referral 24/7 on 1800 858 858.
