
WINNERS DOMINATE ON ANZAC DAY, LAKERS MOVE TO 3-0
Round 3 of the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee Senior Women competition was in full swing over the Anzac weekend, with two twilight games played on Friday and plenty of wet conditions adding to the fun.
To kick off the round, North Sunshine hosted Yarraville Seddon at Demptser Park, with the Eagles getting the chocolates thanks to a comprehensive 178-point win.
Western Jets youngster Armani Mauriohooho starred for the Eagles with seven goals, as did teammate AkecĀ Makur Chuot who bagged five.
Kiara Halley and Chloe Symons worked hard for the home side being named in the best with the latter registering the lone major on the scoreboard for the Roadrunners.
The Friday night dominance continued at Galvin Park, with reigning premiers Werribee Centrals executing a 16-goal victory over Wyndhamvale.
Centurions ruck Julia Nash was best on ground for the home side, whilst her teammate Kyleisha Kinces (five goals) was dangerous inside the forward 50.
Falcons co-captain Mariah Burton kicked a major for her side and was named in the best alongside Rachael Sherriff.
Saturday morning saw a wet weather battle play out between the Suns and West Footscray at Goddard Street Reserve, with the home side walking away 14-point victors.
Matilda Brown and Emily Evans worked hard around the ball for the Suns, whilst Tara McBean and Emma Farrugia were staunch in defence for the Roosters, in tough, greasy conditions.
To round out the weekend fixture, Caroline Springs hosted the Parkside Spurs, with the Lakers kicking away in the fourth quarter to secure a 25-point win.
Jordin Williamson was a stand-out in the ruck for the Lakers and was named her side’s top performer along with recruit Ebony Stevens, who kicked a season-best three goals.
Western Bulldogs VFLW-listed player Mary Sandral had an impact up forward and contributed a goal for the Spurs, whilst teammate and midfield machine Rita Ceravolo asserted herself across the ground.
