WOLVES LEARNING EVERY WEEK

Spotswood captain Caitlin Brennan said each week is a chance for her team to learn and improve.

Despite losing its Victoria University Polytechnic Senior Women’s Division 1 match at the weekend to Caroline Springs, Brennan says the group is remaining positive about their prospects this season.

“It is always disappointing when you lose, but everything is a learning curve,” she said.

“We have a great rivalry with them (Caroline Springs), we always play a good game no matter where the teams are positioned on the ladder, but we move on.

“As everyone else says we are taking things one week at a time.”

The Wolves are sitting in third spot on the Division 1 ladder after four rounds.

Brennan said it was exciting to see the Women’s competition split into two divisions as it allowed for more competitive games.

She said the continuity of playing each week, without the ongoing threat of a lockdown meant the season was more enjoyable for all involved.

“We have an even competition and I think the competition makes everyone better,” Brennan said.

“It is good to be playing footy and not stressing about going into a lockdown. The consistency of playing sport is good for our mental health and its great we are able to be around people again.”

This weekend is a split round for the Victoria University Polytechnic Division 1 competition.

Werribee Centrals will host the Yarraville Seddon Eagles on Friday night at Galvin Park at 7.30pm and then Spotswood will go head-to-head with Hoppers Crossing on Saturday at Converse Oval at midday.

Manor Lakes and Caroline Springs have the week off and will play in May 21.
