WRFL STATEMENT

Following the abandonment of the Saturday August 6 Division 3 senior match between North Sunshine FC and Tarneit FC due to an on-field melee, the WRFL Board has today applied the following penalties to the competing clubs for bringing the League into disrepute (WRFL by-law 6.7):

• Senior teams of both clubs each stripped of four (4) Premiership Points.
• A $2,500 fine for both clubs.

In consultation with the League, North Sunshine FC has also withdrawn its men’s senior & reserve teams from the remainder of the Division 3 home & away fixture.

The investigation pertaining to the incident and individuals involved remains ongoing, with the likelihood of further charges to follow.

The League acknowledges and appreciates the full and ongoing cooperation of both clubs involved.
