WYNDHAMVALE BOOKS PLACE IN DIVISION 2 DECIDER

Wyndhamvale will meet North Footscray in the Division 2 Grand Final after the Falcons blew by West Footscray in Saturday’s Preliminary Final at Yarraville Oval.

After going down in a low scoring affair with the Devils the previous week it was goals galore for the Falcons on this occasion as they quickly surpassed their score from a week earlier, opening the game with eight goals and 15 scoring shots in the first quarter against the Roosters who could only muster two behinds.

With Cameron Morrison and Jack Tessari in fine form Wyndhamvale led by 54 points at halftime and the game was put to bed in the third term as the minor premiers piled on another eight majors.

With a big buffer the Falcons took their foot off the gas in the fourth quarter with West Footscray almost doubling their score in the last as they finished their season with five goals and a further six minor scores.

Despite their campaign ending in a hefty loss the Roosters will be buoyed by their improvement in 2025 having risen up the ladder from ninth a season ago to third this year.

Earlier in the day Wyndhamvale booked their place in the Reserves Grand Final where they’ll also face North Footscray, following a 12-point win over Albanvale.

Like their senior counterparts the Falcons were in control from the outset before the opposition reduced the final margin by the full-time siren by winning the final quarter.

Meanwhile, Point Cook Centrals are into their second straight Under 18 Division 2 Grand Final after defeating Laverton/Manor Lakes by 18 points.

The Sharks will face minor premiers West Footscray in the decider and will be out to go one better this year after falling to Sunshine in the 2024 season finale.
